What Einstein Missed, Final Chapter
Half the Universe Sealed Inside the Proton — the entrance to the symmetric world is within us
Three Candidates Erased
Cosmic distribution (Farnes 2018) — ruled out by 27 years of empty direct searches plus the 2025 Yonsei reading that questions cosmological acceleration itself. Multiverse — incompatible with negative mass being a single physical mechanism. Antimatter — closed by ALPHA's 2023 Nature result that antihydrogen falls under normal gravity. Three roads down. One left.
The Arithmetic Pointed to a Place
If positive and negative mass are real, between them sits zero. Nature gives us three massless particles — photon, gluon, graviton. Part 3 already named them as boundary. The remaining step: the gluon-built boundary lives where gluons live. Gluons live inside protons. The other side of the boundary — the negative-mass region — is therefore sealed inside protons.
The Proton as Sealing Unit
Standard QCD: 99% of proton mass comes from gluon dynamics, 1% from quarks (Ji decomposition; χQCD lattice 2018). This essay reframes the 99%: it is not just gluon dynamics, it is the boundary between two cosmic mass regions, microscopically sealed. The proton is the unit of containment. Asking "where is the negative-mass region" reduces to "where are protons" — and protons are everywhere.
Color Confinement Solved by Necessity
Why is color confinement the strongest of the four fundamental forces? Why is its mass-gap a Clay Millennium Prize problem? Because what is being sealed is not "just gluon flux" but the meeting of two cosmic regions. To prevent macroscopic Bondi runaway from breaking out at the microscopic scale, nature deploys its strongest force at every proton. Confinement strength = boundary-seal requirement.
An Already-Measured Signature
Burkert, Elouadrhiri & Girod (Nature 2018) measured the pressure distribution inside the proton: a strong repulsive ~10³⁵ Pa at the center, attractive in the outer shell. The strongest pressure ever measured in nature, and two opposite signs in the same particle. The standard reading uses the D-term and von Laue stability. This essay reads the same data as direct evidence for two coexisting mass-sign contributions inside the proton.
Half the Universe Is Inside Us
There are ~10⁸⁰ protons in the universe. ~10⁵¹ in Earth. ~7×10²⁷ in a human body. 99% of every star, planet, gas cloud, galaxy, and human is the same boundary activity. The negative-mass region is not far away. It is here, distributed in every proton at 99% mass fraction. The series — that began with "gravity is velocity" — closes by relocating half of the cosmos from out there to inside us.
