A cow cuts back on rumination before anything looks wrong from the aisle, and she starts walking more the moment she comes into heat. Both of those changes tend to happen overnight, in an empty barn, so by morning the only thing left is the result. COWMAN is awake for that window — that is the whole reason it exists.
One collar reads her whole day
A single motion sensor on the neck is enough to separate walking from standing, lying from ruminating, eating from restlessness, and normal movement from a cow that has stopped moving altogether. COWMAN follows how that mix shifts hour by hour and where it starts to bend. Nothing else has to be fitted to the animal.
Heat caught while you can still act on it
Estrus is short and most of it passes overnight, which is exactly when no one is walking the pens. Miss it and the cow stays open until the next cycle comes around — every one of those days is feed, bedding and housing spent on an animal that is not carrying a calf. COWMAN flags the cows showing heat behaviour so breeding is a decision made on time, not a gap noticed later.
A sick cow, or a down cow, surfaced early
COWMAN raises an alert when a cow's behaviour points to a health problem, when she is down and cannot get back on her feet, and when calving is close. A downed cow is an emergency measured in hours, and a calving you know about is one somebody can attend. Early is not a nice-to-have here; early is the product.
Every cow judged against herself
Every herd has quiet cows and busy cows, and a herd average flattens both of them. COWMAN works from what normal looks like for each individual animal and reacts when she departs from her own pattern. That is what keeps a naturally lazy cow from being flagged every morning, and a naturally active cow from slipping through unnoticed.

No cameras to mount and keep clean, no temperature probes, no observation sheet for anyone to fill in at the end of a long day.
